FAQs
Where are you based?
Silver Lining Tattoo Studio, Worle, Weston Super Mare, Somerset, BS226HG
HOW DO I BOOK IN?
In all cases, come to the studio. We will discuss your ideas then and there (no need to book a consultation), quote you a price and approximate time scale, take a 50% booking fee, and secure you an appointment time. The booking fee is non refundable, so please only book in if you are fully committed to being tattooed. If you need to change your appointment date, I will need 2 working days’ notice.
will you design the tattoo for me'?
Absolutely. All design work is free! After your initial consultation, I will ask that you email me a description of your design, and any reference material you have found. I will draw your design up, and we will discuss the design and make any necessary changes on the day of your tattoo. Please note, I don’t send out your design before the day of your tattoo. Don’t worry if you want to make changes, these usually don’t take long, and I won’t be offended!
How old do you have to be to get tattooed?
According to the Tattooing Of Minors Act 1969, you must be 18 years old or over to get tattooed. It is an offense to tattoo anyone younger than 18, even if they have parental permission. If you look young, I will ask you for ID. I can accept a passport, driving license, or PASS card. I can not accept photos of any of the above, and I can not accept birth certificate. No exceptions.
Do you have disability access
Yes! And please don’t be afraid to ask if you need help moving around the studio.
CAN I BRING A FRIEND OR RELATIVE
I work in a small studio. You will be allowed to bring one person for moral support, but we ask that they remain in the waiting area while you get tattooed. This is to keep the hygiene standard and comfort of other clients the highest it can possibly be.
I’M BEING TATTOOED IN AN INTIMATE AREA, WILL I HAVE PRIVACY?
Yes. We provide room dividers if you are being tattooed in a private area. In most cases I will use my judgement on whether to use privacy dividers or not, but please don’t be afraid to ask for them if I haven’t put them up.
how long do tattoos take to heal?
It varies from person to person, but generally between 5 days and a month. Recovery time can be affected by position of tattoo, colour or black and grey, time spent being tattooed, clients’ general health and age.
how do i look after my tattoo?
I will go through aftercare with you when I tattoo you, and if you forget, there is an aftercare section on this page for you to view in your own time.
i’m worried about how my tattoo is healing. what should i do?
Pop to the studio and let me have a look. 9 times out of 10 it is fine and I shall be able to put your mind at rest and/or give you any additional advice. If anything does heal up in a way you’re not happy with, touch ups are free if you contact me within 3 months of being tattooed.
will you copy a tattoo i found on the internet?
I won’t do an exact copy of someone’s tattoo, or any other tattoo artists’ designs. However, if you’ve seen something you really like, please bring in a picture for me to see and I will design you something similar that will be unique to you.
will you take me on as an apprentice?
We do occasionally take on apprentices in the studio. Currently we are full, however if you are looking for an apprenticeship, please come to the studio with a portfolio of your traditional artwork. We may not be able to take you on, but we’re always happy to give people advice on your portfolios. We will never consider taking on anyone who has been tattooing from home, or in unlicensed premises.
